Job Description 

Unit Clerk – Duties & Responsibilities

Audits & Monitoring

  • Complete weekly tub temperature checks and record findings.
  • Conduct weekly patient belongings labelling audits.
  • Perform monthly call bell audits.
  • Complete weekly sling audits ensuring slings are maintained, safe, and labelled.
  • Audit incontinence products twice weekly and report findings to SDC/DOC for follow-up and education.
  • Conduct oxygen audits as scheduled.
  • Complete and maintain airbed and siderail audits.
  • Check and confirm bath temperature monitoring is completed by care teams.

Resident Care Documentation & Tracking

  • Maintain an updated siderail list.
  • Maintain a current wanderguard list and ensure devices are functioning appropriately.
  • Ensure transfer assessments are present and updated in resident rooms.
  • Continue updating resident lists routinely.
  • Maintain accurate and complete deceased or transferred resident files.

Scheduling & Communication

  • Maintain and schedule IDTC (Interdisciplinary Team Conferences).
  • Email meeting details to resident families and management.
  • Arrange audiologist, denturist, optometrist and other required consultations for residents.
  • Continue rotation of Health Care Aide assignments and update bathing list regularly.

Supplies & Ordering

  • Continue ordering and organizing general supplies, lab supplies, and medical products.
  • Manage delivery, stocking, and distribution of supplies.
  • Maintain ongoing product ordering and related audits.
  • Assist in engraving toenail and fingernail clippers for proper identification and reuse.

Record Management & Administrative Support

  • Continue assembling admission packages for new residents.
  • Continue with nursing department filing and document organization.
  • Ensure storage room remains clean, organized, and tidy.
  • Maintain oxygen ordering procedures and related documentation.
  • Complete additional administrative duties as assigned.

Direct Resident Support

  • Assist residents at mealtimes as required.
  • Support staff, families, and residents with general clerical and communication needs.
