Casual part time Dietary Aide

Job Description 

Qualifications:

  • Preferred to have completed or be enrolled in a Food Service Worker training program at an established college or a registered private career college in the applicable province; or
  • Preferred Post-secondary diploma in food and nutrition management or a post-secondary degree in food nutrition;
  • Must possess a Food Handler’s Certificate.
  • Must be physically able to lift and transfer heavy, hot items and stand for majority of shift
  • Must have knowledge of WHMIS
  • Proficiency in a second language is an asset

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complies with all provincial/long term care regulations and established dietary department policies and procedures
  •  Assists in the preparation and service of beverages, meal items, vegetables, nourishment items, salads, desserts and catering as assigned
  • Follows proper food handling techniques
  • Maintains cleanliness of floors in the food preparation, dish room and storage areas
  • Sets and cleans dining tables and trays
  • Assists in dish and pan washing, storage, and cleaning duties
  • Delivers dietary carts to designated areas/washes dirty dishes for home area
  • Participates actively in special occasion and theme meal days
  • Assists in the orientation and training of new dietary employees
  • Follows and complies with health and safety legislation and departmental safe job procedures
  • Ensure resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted
  • Is aware of appropriate steps to follow when a Resident refuses therapeutic diet/texture
  • Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it
  • Will communicate with the members of the interdisciplinary team in a manner which ensures that client privacy and confidentiality is respected.
